Sonia has been active with Cave Canem, a writers' group for African American poetry. I've met her through CC and seen her read on many occasions. She's fierce!

Hi January,

Yes she is! I've had the pleasure of hearing her two or three times. When she signed my copy of her book the last time I heard her, she encouraged me and had kind things to say about what I was doing in the poetry community and what I wanted to do for young girls.

This is Sonja Sanchez a civil rights militant in the 60s. She writes poetry, essays and lectures at colleges etc. I have not had the pleasure of hearing her but would love to sometime. I wonder if she ever appears on Travis Smiley's show as part of his occasional panelists. I love to listen to the panelists to challenge my mind and my thinking.

Thanks for sponsoring these monthly quizzes.
