BBAW: Setting Goals

Setting Goals!
Write in 50 words or less…what do you like best about your blog right now and where would you like your blog to be a year from now?

Lorin actually asked me about my goals in my interview. This is more than 50 words so feel free to skip. I replied:

Where do you hope Color Online will be in a year?

In one year, we will be regularly publishing our e-zine at our website. At the moment, we're thinking a quarterly schedule. I previously had a successful stint doing this so we're not reinventing the wheel with this venture. Publishing provides another opportunity to showcase the talent of teens and women of color. One year from now we will be hosting our second annual poetry and essay contests for teens.

One year from now, I hope we are closer rather than farther from achieving 501.3c status. Ultimately, I want to run Color Online full-time as a non-profit literacy and diversity organization. One year from now, I see Color Online as a recognized, grassroots, multicultural and diversity in publishing advocacy group.

What I like most about my blog is that visitors and members are introduced to incredible writers they might not have learned about otherwise. What I love about Color Online is that we are a community.

Love the fact that your blog promotes diversity. Will you include Asian writers as part of the feature in your blog?

Anyways, hope to be able to catch up with more of your posts in the future.

Welcome Ms. Ulat,

We include all people of color. Once you have time to look at reviews and features you'll see we have featured Asian writers though we certainly would love more. Who do recommend?

Zetta,

After writing this I wondered if folks would think me arrogant and overly ambitious. Then I thought, why think less? These are my dreams and I love following.

Thanks.

Thanks for the blogroll. I have to admit I don't read a lot of books from Asian authors but I intend too soon. Once I do I'll share the reviews with you, maybe you can do a feature. Am following you on Twitter too. :)

why think less?

Yes!

Famed architect Daniel Burnham once wrote "Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood."

Other than the inherent sexism of that statement, I love it.

I love all these things about Color Online as well! Please let us know how it goes with 501.3c status! That's very very exciting.

Please let me know if you need any kind of help with your poetry and essay contest. I used to edit my university's literary magazine, so I am quite familiar with the review process :)

Great goals! Can't wait to see all that you achieve. Arrogant? No way! You have a brilliant light and you should let it shine for all to see. You do such great stuff on this blog. Love it!

Great goals! The idea of creating a 501.c3 non-profit is brilliant! Best of luck with that.

I'm certainly looking forward to everything you have yet to bring us. And your goals are ambitious, as they should be.
