It's been a good week in the book blog world for me. Color Online has been nominated for 8 categories for Book Blogger Appreciation Week, amazing! Excited can't even come close to describing how I felt when the nominations came in. Huge thank you to the BBAW committee and all of you who submitted nominations on our behalf. But there's more, I'm going to be part of series published at School Library Journal thanks to Zetta. I was intimidated to respond to the request but my dear friend, Zetta would not let up. And I read an incredible memoir, The Other Side of Paradise by Stacyann Chin. Oh, I have plenty to say about this. I don't write many reviews. You won't want to miss this one, stay tuned.
At Color Online, it's about love and support. Please show some love for Mayra Calvani. This week for COLA, we are proud to spotlight her blog, Latino Examiner.
Now, let's talk about getting a return on your investment. Every week, I dutifully write up the week's events and every week, this post gets very little response so I don't know if you all find this feature useful or I'm wasting my time linking and pasting images like a mad blogger here. To that end, I'm hosting an impromptu contest. Comment about any post published here, and the first 12 readers will be entered in a random drawing. Must have 8 comments in order for me to do a drawing. 2 winners will have their choice of one of the following titles:
Life Is Funny by E.R. Frank (YA)
The Disappearance of Irene Dos Santos by Margaret Mascarenhas
Into The Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
B as In Beauty by Alberto Ferreras
Contest ends Tuesday at 11:59 pm.
Okay, I do claim I'm Jacqueline Woodson's number one fan. For "What Do I Read Next?," I feature her and other titles you might enjoy. Tell us what genre or theme you'd like featured. On Monday for WDRIN, it's all about friends.
Ari reviews Shine, Coconut Moon by Neesha Meminger and Camile delivers another funny, honest anecdote about race and family with "Black Like Me."
A sister got no love for my "Attack of The Cookie Monster" piece. Just so you know, I'm late posting today because last night my pc was ill from too many cookies I picked up visiting a site so no blogging for me. Instead, it was scanning all night and up early this morning, playing catch up. Arggggggggggg!
It's almost end of the month which means I'll be drawing our Color Online Quiz winner soon. Have you participated yet? Why not? Have you checked out our Prize Bucket? Click on the tag 'quizzes' in any quiz post and look for end of the month bonus questions. Drawing August 30th. Winner announced September 1st.
Color Me Brown is on fire! 71 links. Yes, we are gloriously brown. Check the sidebars daily for links to participants' reviews at their blogs. Beginning this week, every Tuesday Color Online will feature a YA review and on Wednesday, we'll feature an adult title.
Drop a link for Little Lov'n Monday and earn a chance for a free book and find new reads in our weekly feature, New Crayons. Feel free to tell us about what's new on your shelf.
This week Ali is hosting CORA Diversity Roll Call. Assignment: A Few Good Men. Oh, yeah! There's always something going on at Color Online. Come by. Sit a spell and chat. We love having you.
Happy reading.

So what exactly do I need to do to get up on this? Comment? Or comment and link? Link what? (Clearly, I need to get more sleep)
Anyway, I'm not sure why this post doesn't get much love. Maybe it's because everyone has been following along all week and by Sunday they are all caught up?
I say keep doing it because I'd like to know if I missed something. Like I missed Ali's new assignment so now I have to check it out.
And if the link is part of this contest, here's one I hope you didn't miss:

Thanks, E.
Your comment is helpful. What I'm asking is readers leave a link to a post they've read here this week.
Thanks.
How's this, leave a comment about any post you've read here during this past week?
I've got to be self serving this morning and link to this post on my blog that details a conversation I've been having with my son and his friends. I'd really like to hear more thoughts on this!

Susan, I sure hope this week goes better than the last!
Okay, cool. I might have viewed them all except for two of them...and I'm sure you might remember me responding to this post: http://coloronline.blogspot.com/2009/08/what-do-i-read-next-if-you-come-softly.html
Heh, heh. If you start the JW Book Club, you know I'm down. Someone commented on one of my posts who's name was Jacqueline and I almost had a heartattack. Pretty sure it's a different Jacqueline though. LOL!
Thanks, Edi. I'll be by shortly. You're rarely self-serving. You're allowed. :-)
Evelyn, I would have almost fell over, too. lol
Susan, much congrats on all your nods. As hard as you work you deserve everyone of them
And, Zetta doesn't take no to well when she knows she's right.
Susan, Its not a review but can I link my Artists thanks to Color Me Brown. Will you continue it for next month? If not you can send everyone to diversity rocks.
I will be back with a link later.
Doret, please do link. And you know I have something planned to continue Color Me Brown. More to come on that front shortly.
Ah, Doret, you know me so well... ;-)
A few Latinas work a Zoot Suit

I am so glad you called attention to Ari's review of Shine, Coconut Moon by Neesha Meminger as I was on vacation and missed that post. I then went to read more from Neesha's blog about the cover issues. All very enlightening, the kind of discussions I wish I saw more on blogs! Thanks for the Salon today!
Susan,
Maybe people responded to your cookie post like I did - I went in and cleaned up a bit just in case it was causing you a problem. I didn't say so I guess but you should KNOW I do what you tell me! :--)
So wonderful about all the nominations! And the School Library Journal thing, because everybody else knows you can write even if you don't know!!!
Hi Carol,
We try. Know let me confess like Edi, some of what we do here is self-serving. The kind of conversations we have here are the kind I enjoyed while in school and when I worked in publishing. :-)
Rhapsody, I'm glad to hear it. I hate to complain but there are sites I avoid simply because it's too much a hassle and risk visiting their blogs.
I can be bossy, can't I? LOL
