Poetry Friday

Apologies to An Apple

"Invitation"

The sparrows have received
my invitation, it seems-

no, not the letter kind.
It seems they have

heard my song
and will come to meet me

in a moment. Look, look-
the horde of wings.

I was introduced to Maya's work through January at Poet Mom. When I first read her, I was impressed. Then I learned she was eleven years old and I sat there stunned. This perception and skill at eleven?, I thought. Expect to read and learn more about Maya here. Buy her book. She is amazing.

Poetry Friday is hosted this week by Tabatha's at The Opposite of Indifference

When Maya hosted Poetry Friday a while back, I was shocked at her age! How wonderful for her to embrace the poetry world already!
Very talented young lady.
