Fertile Ground

watering wild seeds
between the concrete they grow
black-eyed susans sing

This is my vision and dedication for the young women I serve. Find more selections here.

I love black-eyed susans, and the idea that they grow in shallow soil, with thin nutrients and still bloom is a fitting tribute to your determination to serve, and the determination of the young to grow. Well said.

Nice! And do I see a nod to your favorite SF writer here as well? (Your favorite besides Zetta, that is :D )

I never knew these were called black-eyed susans, so thanks for the visual aid. Great poem.

Thanks all. Claudia, not a conscious nod. This was written for a writing prompt. At the time, this is what bubbled up to the surface.

Lovely--Blooming in tough places is a challenge...but the beauty that results is amazing.
